In May 2007 Air Charter Service was called into urgent action to fly 14 tonnes of burgers from Belgium to Sweden after a popular fast food restaurant ran out of the specific meat required for the product launch of a new type of burger.
Justin Lancaster, ACS’s Commercial Director, explains more: “We received a call from a freight forwarder representing the fast food chain saying that they needed to get the meat from a burger production plant near Liege to Gothenburg. A fairly standard requirement, but complicated by the fact that they needed to be kept frozen, so we had to use a lot of dry ice to ensure that they did not defrost.
“We organised a B737-300F that was based in Belgium and could accommodate the dry ice and managed to get the burgers to Sweden in time for distribution to the restaurants and the product launch.”
