EMBRAER LEGACY 450

EMBRAER LEGACY 450

  • Passengers 8

The Embraer Legacy 450 is a fast, well-rounded and capable aircraft with a large cabin that’s full of amenities.

About this aircraft

  • The Embraer Legacy 450 was announced alongside the Legacy 500 in 2008 and was first delivered in 2015.
  • With a maximum range of around 5,378 km, it can fly from Geneva to Jeddah, New York to San Francisco and New Delhi to Beijing.
  • The cabin is typically laid out to seat seven or eight people, while a further passenger can be seated in the enclosed lavatory.
  • The baggage hold is large enough for around eight suitcases.
  • After over 50 deliveries, production ceased in 2019 as the upgraded Praetor 500 entered the market.

With a stand-up cabin, a flat floor, 150 ft³ of combined baggage space and room for eight passengers, the Embraer Legacy 450 is a stand-out in the midsize jet category.

Interior design

Featuring the same fuselage cross-section as the Legacy 500, the 450’s cabin is smaller than its super-midsize counterpart but particularly large for a midsize aircraft. It’s typically configured to seat seven or eight passengers, with the eight-seat layout featuring four seats in a club formation, two forward-facing seats in the aft and a two-seat divan at the front.

The cabin has all the technology and amenities expected on a modern private jet, including Wi-Fi, an oven, a fully-enclosed aft-lavatory and power outlets for every seat.

Below is a standard configuration for an Embraer Legacy 450.

Interesting facts to learn before you fly

  • Excellent short-field landing performance means the Legacy 450 can land at a range of airports.
  • It has a shorter range than the Legacy 500 and competitors like the Gulfstream G280 and Citation Sovereign+, which can fly at least 415 km further.
  • Embraer claims the Legacy 450 has the best cabin pressurisation in its class at 6,000 ft, reducing the effect of jet lag and providing far greater levels of comfort than a commercial aircraft.
  • Accessible during a flight, the baggage hold is large enough for several pairs of skis and golf bags.

Technological features

The Legacy 450 is powered by Honeywell’s reliable and efficient HTF7500E turbofan engine and 36-150 auxiliary power unit.

In the cockpit, the Collins Aerospace’s ProLine Fusion integrated avionics system features four LCDs and side-stick controls. Honeywell's Ovation Select cabin management system offers a range of entertainment and integrated communications, ensuring passengers can make the most of their travel time.

History

The Legacy 450 was announced by Embraer in April 2008 alongside the 500. Both models were to be the first aircraft in their class to feature a flat-floor stand-up cabin and fly-by-wire. The Legacy 450 made its first flight in December 2013. Brazilian certification and FAA certification came in August 2015, with the first delivery following that December. Embraer increased the aircraft’s range shortly afterwards, with a retrofit kit now available for the early build models. Production ceased in 2019.

Manufacturer

Founded in 1969 with the help of the Brazilian government, Embraer has grown into the world’s third-largest commercial jet manufacturer, delivering over 8,000 aircraft in total and employing 18,000 people across sites in the Americas, Africa, Asia and Europe. Today an Embraer aircraft takes off every 10 seconds and its planes carry an average of 145 million passengers a year.

Embraer’s first aircraft was the Bandeirante, a turboprop plane designed for both civilian and military purposes. Aiming to remain at the forefront of avionics, the brand continuously reinvents its product designs with every new line of aircraft and allocates 10% of its total revenue towards research, development, innovation and improving industrial solutions.

Cost

Depending on numerous factors, the average price for a pre-owned Embraer Legacy 450 is $15 million (USD).
