In October 2020, an agricultural company asked us to help fly 400 farmers from Alabama to Wyoming for an incentive trip they were hosting. The client had originally booked seats on a scheduled service to Florida, but were forced to change their plans due to Covid-19 travel restrictions and the collapse of the airline.

With commercial airlines unable to offer enough seats on a single flight or timings that suited the client’s schedule, we sprung into action to overcome several logistical difficulties and find an alternative solution at short notice.

Our Solution

Routes: Birmingham > Jackson Hole > Birmingham

Routes: Montgomery > Jackson Hole > Montgomery

Aircraft: Two Boeing 737-800’s

The client wanted to fly the group to Jackson Hole, so we sourced a Boeing 737-800 that was available to charter and had capacity for the large group and their baggage. After encountering difficulties obtaining a slot that suited the client’s schedule at the small airport, we secured an FBO that could accommodate us at the desired time.

Jackson Hole’s high altitude within a mountain range meant we had to factor in a fuel stop, as airport restrictions prevented the aircraft from uplifting enough fuel for a direct flight. This then worked in our favour when a snowstorm hit the day before the flight was due to depart. The aircraft could no longer take off from Jackson Hole with the combined weight of the passengers and their bags, so our quick-thinking broker moved the fuel stop to a closer destination and worked with the client’s DMC to truck the baggage ahead, where it was loaded onto the flight.
